We are excited to announce Tracy Smith began a new role as 4-H Youth Development Coordinator on August 1, 2017. In this new position, she will be delivering culturally relevant community-based educational programming and engaging with diverse audiences to ensure full access to programs and educational services.
In September of this year, Smith will have 9 years of experience with the Dane County UW-Extension office and during that time she has taken on several roles. She began her career with UW-Extension as a youth educator in the Wisconsin Nutrition Education Program (WNEP) in September of 2008. She moved into the position of WNEP administrator in June of 2009 and served in that position for 7 years. In June of 2016, she moved into the position of Financial Educator with the Dane County UW-Extension Financial Education Center. Prior to UW-Extension, Tracy worked as a legislative assistant in the Wisconsin State Assembly, an accounts manager for a local transportation business, and an elementary school teacher in the Madison Metropolitan School District. In addition to these positions, Tracy took time to work as a stay at home mom to raise her 5 children. She has been married to her husband, David, for over 28 years and served alongside him in the church that he pastored for over 19 years. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison with a B.S. in Education in 1988.
Tracy is very excited to use her skills and community connections to expand access to the 4-H program for youth in Dane County. She will also continue to work with the Dane County UW-Extension Financial Education Center as a Financial Educator.
