WNEP is a UW-Extension nutrition education program that helps limited resource families and individuals choose healthful diets, purchase and prepare healthful food and handle it safely, and become more food secure by spending their food dollars wisely. WNEP focuses on nutrition education based on the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and MyPyramid. |

Our team of four Youth Nutrition Educators provides hands on interactive learning activities for children grades K-12. The nutrition education curriculum is designed to help youth gain an understanding of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans through an in-depth look at MyPyramid. Educators also focus on the improtance of food safety, especially the benefits of handwashing. Due to the prevalence of obesity in children, WNEP staff also partners with various agencies to provide physical activity and gardening education. Check out more about our Youth Nutrition Education program.
Our team of seven Adult Nutrition Educators provides nutrition information to adults, parents and older adults throughout Dane County. Adult programming occurs at Joining Forces for Families office, food pantries, WIC clinics, senior meal sites and other various community agencies. Adult nutrition eduators also provide nutrition information to families with children through home visitation. Participants receive one-on-one nutrition information and have access to a wide range of nutrition and resource management curriculum which they keep at the end of each lesson. Participants also receive a graduation certificate upon completion. Click here to learn more about our adult nutrition education program. Check out more about our Adult Nutrition Education program.
